June Recap + July Goals
Hey guys! I have no idea how we’re already five days into July, but I figured this post was better late than never. I love it when other bloggers share their monthly recaps and goals, so I figured that I might as well get in on the fun!
June Recap:
June was an exciting month around here because I started this blog! I officially launched about two weeks ago on June 18th, so the stats below are from then to the end of the month. I was hesitant to share because it’s not a full month’s worth of data (had I been smarter, I would have waited until the 1st to launch!), but I think it’s a good precedent, and it’ll be fun to look back on later.
Pageviews: 2,947
Users: 2,485
Average users per day: 191*
*this is counting from the 18th on.
I have to be real with you: 75% of my traffic has come from one blog post, my pre-packing for college post, which has really taken off on Pinterest. Group boards have been a phenomenal way to promote my blog posts, and most of my traffic comes from there. I try to create pretty images, pin them to the right group boards, and then let the rest take care of itself, and it’s been pretty good to me so far.
However, I think the biggest factor has been timely content. The packing post took off because students are ready to start getting ready for college. I suspect that that specific post will die off when school starts again and my traffic will probably suffer. It’ll be interesting to see how my traffic fares in later months. I really hope to maintain this momentum by creating other timely posts, but we’ll see.
In June, I also got to know some really awesome people, got the hang of my summer job, planned and executed a very successful surprise party, and spent a lot of time with the people I love, so it was a great month in my book!
July Goals:
July is kind of a weird month to set goals for me because most of my summer goals are in full swing, and I don’t have any academic goals to set yet. I did come up with some good goals, though!
1) Read at least four books. I absolutely love to read. At the beginning of the summer, I was doing so well and reading about two books a week. Then I started getting into blogging and suddenly all I was reading was blogging advice. That’s been helpful, but I’d love to get back into some real books this month.
2) Connect with friends. It’s hard to stay in contact when everyone leaves for the summer, so I definitely have some friendships that I have been neglecting. This month I intend to reach out to some of my friends I haven’t seen in a while. Even though I haven’t seen them in a few months, they’re still important to me, and I need to let them know that!
3) Get outside more. Let’s be real, I am not a summer person. It’s too hot and sweaty and sunscreen smells bad and I’d much rather stay indoors where it’s air-conditioned. I tell myself that my bike ride to and from work everyday is enough time outside, but I live in such a beautiful place and really I ought to get out and experience it more.
4) Utilize social media more. Before blogging, I was hardly ever on social media. I need to get into the game and figure out how to best use social media as a blogger. This means interacting on social media everyday, something I haven’t been great at.
5) Average 200 users per day on my blog. I don’t know if this possible as the surge from my pre-packing post is wearing off, but it’s always nice to have a high goal to strive for.
And that’s about it. My plans for July are relatively boring. I’m going to work a lot, which will be nice for my bank account. A couple of my favorite people in the world are getting married this month, and attending their weddings should be a blast. Other than that, I don’t have big plans. I’ll probably watch a lot of movies and eat a lot of smores with my squad.
What are your goals for the month of July? Do you have any fun plans?

July 6, 2016 at 3:46 amWe have similar goals for July! I want to use social media more and use it to connect better with other bloggers, as well as using it to grow my blog. I also really want to read more! I haven’t set myself a number yet but I’m hoping to get through at least two books this month!
Love reading posts like these! Thanks for sharing!

July 8, 2016 at 3:50 pmI love reading posts like these too! I think it’s funny, I tried to avoid reading other goal posts before I wrote this so I’d come up with my own goals, but I still ended up setting really similar goals to a lot of other people. I think bloggers must just have similar interest and priorities, because all of our goals are similar, haha! Good luck with your reading!

July 6, 2016 at 6:48 pmI’m the same about summer! I just want to avoid it all together. I’m still trying to master the art of Pinterest pics so I can get some traffic from there. Have fun at the weddings!

July 8, 2016 at 3:52 pmPinterest pictures are hard, and I’m still trying to figure out what works too! Luckily, I think that playing around with images is really fun so it’s easy to put some time and effort in!
Thanks for reading!
