Dorm Tour: Summer 2016
I know that a lot of you are probably getting excited to move into your dorms soon, and so I thought I’d show you my current dorm for some inspiration! Yes, I live in a dorm during the summer. I work on campus, so it’s super convenient. Plus at least at my school there are never enough people to fill all of the dorms in the summer, so it’s much cheaper! I’ve got what is meant as two person room all to myself for way less per month than what my shared room cost during the school year! Because I’m only in this dorm for three months, I haven’t gone all out with decorating like I do during the school year but I still wanted a cute room that’s nice to come home to.
So, without further ado, let me show you my room!
This is what it looks like when you first walk in. Behind the door is a second bed, which is also mine!
My bed is definitely my favorite part. I love the bright floral bedding and the fairy lights are super cute and add just the right amount of light. I’ve also got a set of drawers that I use as night stand, because let’s be real, we’re all broke college students who can’t afford real night stands. The storage is handy as well.
My desk is right at the foot of my bed. I kind of hated this arrangement at first but have grown to love it because it gives me a little space to put a quote up(a little mantra for when I get anxious). I can also see my calendar right when I wake up.
My desk is nothing special. I’ve got lot of organizational boxes with important papers and other mementos (one box is full of just things like ticket stubs and notes from friends because I’m a sap). All of my make-up, nail polish, etc, is in the grey drawers on my desk. The big white thing is an air filter to help with my allergies. I also have a supply of snacks because that’s who I am as a person. They don’t photograph well, but the pins on my pin board are all from Parks and Rec, my all time favorite!
Next to my desk is my closet! It has a handy mirror on the back, so I use this area to get ready for the day. I keep my hair stuff and other larger products on the shelves and the windowsill. I’ve also got an old fan because it’s so hot without an ac! My curtain is actually a thick blanket I put up to block out the sun and help keep the room a bit cooler.
Here is my closet itself! It’s a pretty standard (and messy, oops) closet. I’ve got a shoe rack (which I love!), with skirts and dresses on one side, and the rest of my clothes on the other. I like to organize my closet by color because I think it looks the prettiest and helps me find what I want fast. At the top I have laundry and cleaning supplies. The black shape on the bottom in the back is my violin, which I occasionally pull out (I stopped taking lessons ages ago, but it’s fun to fiddle around sometimes).
The other half of the room mirrors the first half. Normally this half would belong to a roommate, but since it’s summer I have it all to myself! I use the other closet for storage (I haven’t bothered to unpack my school stuff because I won’t use it during the summer), and have all of my electronics on the desk. Admittedly, this is not the prettiest part of my room (like the open trash bag, because I’m super classy), but it’s functional!
I’ve made up the other bed with some bedding I used in my dorm a few years ago, and of course my R2-D2 pillow from my best friend. I use this bed as guest bed for when my sister or friends stay over.
So that’s what my summer dorm looks like! It’s not as cute as my dorm usually is, but it works for the short amount of time I’m here and will pretty easy to pack up next month! Let me know if you like this, and I’ll do another tour when I move into my new apartment!

July 16, 2016 at 12:21 amSuper cute! You’re so lucky to have plain walls, my dorm had cinder block walls and my apartment which is apart of the university. That’s the only thing I would change of my apartment!
